Houses
Here we’ll look at the names and meanings given to the houses (known as ‘places’ in
Hellenistic astrology). Some of these are quite different from their modern equivalents,
and we’ll talk about why this is so, and how the ancient meanings can enrich
our modern perspective of them.

This is an introduction to the basic descriptions of planets by Hellenistic astrologers.

Hellenistic Astrological Psychology
Ptolemy's Tetribiblos contains history's first systematic rendition of
astrological psychology. This talk outlines two of his contributions.
One is developmental:
how are different planets featured at different stages of life? The other pertains
to character: how do we find the quality of soul and the planet or planets who
govern the soul? We will discuss how to assess Moon and Mercury for psychological
issues, how to determine which planet in a natal chart governs the soul, and
how to interpret that planet for determination of character. This will give us
insight into what is meant by "character" and "soul" and
relationship relationship to the body. We will use example charts and provide
information for participants to apply to their own charts and those of others.

Allotment and
Fate: Why Hellenistic Astrologers Used Lots and What Modern Astrologers
Can Do with Them
The Lot (a.k.a. Part) of Fortune was not the only lot used by Hellenistic
astrologers, even though it’s pretty much the only one currently
in use by astrologers today. First, we’ll talk about why ‘lot’ and
not ‘part’ (a little history and a little etymology). Next,
we’ll look at the most used lots in the Hellenistic astrologer’s
arsenal, including the Lot of Fortune and the Lot of Daimon (also called
the Lot of Spirit). Since these lots are mirror images of each other, they
are often linked together in Hellenistic astrological technique. We’ll
look at what they mean (literally and metaphorically), why astrologers
like Vettius Valens thought they were important, and how we can use them
today. We’ll demonstrate with current charts how effective they can
be in interpretation. We’ll also give you an easy way to quickly
find these lots in your own chart. |

Annual Profections
One of the most simple, yet eloquent
and powerful time-lord techniques in the Hellenistic tradition is known as
Annual Profections. While
this technique was widely employed in the Hellenistic and later
Medieval traditions in order to predict events about the course
and nature of each year of a native's life, many of the finer details
of the more advanced application of the technique have been obscure
until recently. The focus of this talk will be on the more advanced
treatment of profections as derived from Hellenistic sources such
as Critodemus and Vettius Valens.

COMBINATIONS
OF POWER (RAHU
AND KETU)
In Vedic astrology the lunar nodes known as Rahu and Ketu have special
powers in a chart. They are referred to as our karmic destiny. They will
indicate our greatest gifts and our darkest issues. In prediction they
are where the eclipses fall and indicate the areas of our life that involve
the most transformation for that year.
When the lunar nodes are combined with another planet they will take
on the quality of that planet. They are like mirrors magnifying the energy
of that planet. In this class we will see the power combinations of the
nodes conjunct the planets in natal charts. Each combination will produce
amazing but very different results. Using many chart examples of famous
individuals we see the effects of the many combinations of an individual
planet with Rahu or Ketu. You will view these combinations of power as
a focal point in your readings.

How to Read the Vedic chart
In this class you will learn how planets give their results dependant
on the houses they rule and aspect (drishti). Planets carry the meanings
of the houses they rule. This determines whether they give a benefic
or malefic influence as they cast their aspects to houses and other
planets. Saturn can give blessings while Jupiter can bring suffering.
You will understand planets, aspects and fine tune your analysis
to give specific profound details. |

Forecasting with the Vedic Dasha System (Planetary Periods)
The Vimshottari Dasha system developed by the great sage, Parashara
is a comprehensive forecasting technique of that reveals the developmental
life cycle unfoldment throughout one’s incarnation. Dasha means
a “stage or condition in life.” The nine Vedic planetary
periods are very helpful in understanding the seasons of our life
and planning long term goals. This dynamic assessment technique estimates
when positive potentials as well as developmental challenges may
occur. The dashas are indicators of when certain karmas have matured
or ripened. During this lecture, we will explore the life events
and planetary periods of Albert Einstein as reflected through the
ancient dasha system of Vedic Astrology.

Most

This is despite
the fact that one sequence in Lilly’s table is contradicted

The Triplicities
We know the four triplicities, fire, earth, air and water
largely as the source of elemental emphasis in the horoscope. However,
to both ancient and medieval astrologers, they were equally important
as the central basis of a rulership system that was used for the
bulk of chart delineation Hellenistic and Medieval astrology, especially
concerning matters such as basic health, social status, condition

Reception
and Disposition: “Can you hear me now?”
Horary astrology has got to be the "weirdest" but also the most
intriguing form of astrology anyone can learn. It's "weird" because
it presupposes not only a belief that the heavens are mirroring the earth
at certain moments in time, but also a belief that one can have a dialogue
with the heavens concerning those same moments in time! But a horary dialogue
without attention to reception and disposition is like a deaf person replying
to a low talker – you may hear things that were never spoken. In this
talk, we’ll examine how an understanding of reception and disposition,
when reading horary charts, can make the difference between correct and incorrect
answers for your horary questions. |

"Hanging on by a thread: Exploring a deeper understanding of the Essential
Dignities of Terms and Face in Natal and Horary Astrology"
The Essential Dignities can be seen as a detailed articulation on the nature
and quality of a person, place or thing as dictated by the Sun’s motions.
Samuel Reynolds identifies three interpenetrating levels—form (actual
physical vitality), attitude (perception of vitality) and fortune (attachment
to the cumulative remainder of thing's or person's vitality) by which to understand
these dignities deeper. By a brief historical analysis and using charts, he
will focus on the “lesser” dignities of Terms (or bounds) and Face
and demonstrate how to reveal more of the “essential” nature of
someone or something examined.

Strength
and Weakness according to Avraham Ibn Ezra:
Who has the Last Say in the Matter?
In addition to the five classical dignities, Ibn Ezra provides an extensive
list of testimonies and factors that affect the strength and the choice of
a significator planet. These include: Evaluation of the nativity ruler, judgment
by house placement, by the planet’s elevation, by position in its wheel,
by relation to the earth, by ecliptical latitude, by quadrants and by terrestrial
direction. This lecture is intended as a comprehensive summary of the topic
across all of Ibn Ezra’s works, including the new translation of The
Book of Nativities, as well as some of those not published in English yet. |

THE ASCENDANCE OF SPIRIT, THE FREEDOM OF PEACE: UNDERSTANDING THE DISTINCT
ROLE OF URANUS AND NEPTUNE IN OUR SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
While Uranus
and Neptune touch upon a wide range of matters in our lives, the
focus of this workshop will be on defining their particular role
in our spiritual development. When these two bodies interact, free
will and fate intermingle, often leaving us bewildered when faced
with both realities. We will discuss how to best use these influences
to consciously elevate our spirit and realize the freedom of peace.
Uranus and
Neptune will be placed in each house and sign, so participants understand
how to apply the concepts discussed in their own chart.

and how the little known, but powerful technique of Geodetic Resonance identifies
important locations where the birth chart resonates in harmony with the location

No, it’s not a lecture on David Bowie’s finest album, it’s
about unraveling what I feel is the most exciting, and still relatively
fathomable, mystery of astrology. How do our experiences predictably change
in every locale, and what are some valuable keys that ancient astrologers

will be given to demonstrating through startling examples the degrees of

Horary and the
Hunt for Missing Things
Mislaid things, lost objects and stolen goods fall
into the same bracket as missing or abducted pets/people, presenting
the greatest – but
potentially most satisfying – challenge to any horary astrologer.
Yet traditional texts seem to give contradictory instruction on these
issues, their authors often keen to point out how little interest
they
had in these uncomfortable topics. Modern texts are just as confusing,
befuddling the student from the start with vague definitions of what
constitutes a mislaid object rather than a missing one. This talk
aims
to clarify the central issues, demonstrating the principles that
have
remained consistent from our earliest sources, and illustrating their
practical application in a number of proven case histories. |

Me and My Money: Are We Compatible?

is a study that can yield great insight on how to find the right direction
for your savings, investment, and trading urges – and which to avoid.
What type is best for you? When is the best time to engage in each? This
presentation may make you think of money a little differently. It is not
always the root of all evil, nor does it have to be the root of constant
frustration. But it tales a plan and a path, matched up with your own chart. |

Is Astrology at the Threshold of a New Era?
Astrologers know that their perspective provides an extraordinary source
of illumination for virtually every area of human experience. Yet we have
had the peculiar experience of living in an era when it is widely regarded
as the most lowly and absurd of superstitions. There are many signs that
this is changing, but before astrology can be fully recognized by the culture
of the 21st century, astrologers need to understand how and why astrology
became so deeply marginalized, and to envision what concrete steps can now
be taken to move astrology into the center of culture where it belongs. |

A UNIVERSAL APPROACH TO THE HOUSES
Astrology houses hold the key to unlocking the door of HOW our
karmic destiny will be lived. Will Saturn teach us through our
work - our child - our job - our health? Deepen your understanding
of astrology houses - learn powerful yet easy to use techniques
that organize and focus the myriad of house possibilities toward
a better understanding of the soul's purpose. This class is taught
by Sam Geppi, author of "The Ascendant", one of the most
thorough books available on astrology houses and their
developmental power expressed through each of the 12 ascending
signs.
10:45
am to 12:15 pm: Adam Gainsburg
THE MARS AND VENUS JOURNEYS, BODIES OF THE SACRED FEMININE
AND MASCULINE
This workshop will introduce the Venus & Mars Journeys,
important maturations in our understanding of how consciousness
evolves, individually and collectively. For the last 5 years,
Adam has been developing the architecture, delineation methods
and language for synthesizing numerous reaches of astrological,
astronomical and consciousness research. The result is an
impressive synthesis of higher-octave natal chart work, new
understandings into consciousness and its core structures,
integral theory, a tri-zodiac (tropical, sidereal and 'constellational'),
new physics, and other disciplines.
For the astrologer, the Journeys offer an immediate and profound
means of deepening your chart work, both natal and transit,
for they effectively frame your interpretations within a
reliable yet vastly open context. In this workshop, you'll
learn how to identify 'where' we collectively are in each
Journey, the twelve/thirteen unique Phases in each, and foundational
concepts of just what the Feminine and Masculine actually
are.
2:30 pm to 4 pm: Eric Meyers
UNDERSTANDING
YOUR LUNAR PHASE
The luminaries are the 2 most central energies in astrology. We
all know our Sun and Moon, but there is far less emphasis on the
relationship
between them. This workshop will frame the relationship between
the luminaries in a cyclical way, just as we see in nature. From
New
Moon to Full Moon and back again, every chart captures a moment
in this eternal rhythm. The positioning of the luminaries provides
another
essential variable for understanding these focal planets -- one
that helps synthesize their message. We'll see how there are a
few ways
we can conceive of this monthly dance.
4:15
pm to 5:45 pm: Kelly Lee Phipps
PLANNING YOUR COSMIC SEEDS
Every year we have the opportunity to grow through the fascinating
array of ingredients that the cosmos delivers via the archetypal
cycles of the transits and progressions. We have the chance
to plant and harvest many creative themes, month by month,
season by season. We get to live the unfolding stories of
our lives, reflected through the cyclic wisdom of the rhythmic
heavens. We’ll work with Progressions to understand
the deeper themes that are up for growth during the year,
and then work with transits from Jupiter out to Pluto to
watch how things get resolved and activated. In addition,
we’ll work with the planting spiritual intentions under
the New Moons by house and aspect, and harvesting those intentions
under the illumination of the Full Moons. Come learn how
to listen to the sky to create a dynamic , flexible strategy
for transitioning through the seasons of your soul!

ADVANCED TRANSIT TECHNIQUES
The practical concepts
in this lecture will help astrologers gain additional information in
analyzing transits. Using planetary charts helps us better understand
the experiential realm that is highlighted following and preceding
transits, and stationary transits to easy-to-spot house midpoints provides
information about otherwise hidden events in our lives. Awareness of
transiting planets expands from one-dimensional level to a more accurate
and powerful multidimensional scope allowing for greater fine-tuning

"Astrology and Dreams: The Crossroads of Consciousness"
Dream interpretation is one of the oldest
forms of divination. Man has always been puzzled by the cryptic language
of the subconscious
and he has always
sought aid to decipher the messages that come to us during sleep. Astrologers

versed in the archetypal language of the cosmos and we know how to translate
that language for ourselves and our clients.
Using the birth chart to determine each individual’s personal relationship

various symbols, we can learn how to interpret our own dreams, and how to
teach others the unique language of their personal subconscious.

The Freedom of Being a Real Grown-up
Fear can mutate into mastery when we delve into Saturn's deeper secrets.
Without awareness Saturn expresses itself as blame, which blinds us to
the meaning of what happens to us. On the collective level its shadow side
is our fear of being exposed as "not normal". But Saturn's true
genius is the ability to respond -- not react -- to the moment. Our birth

Quantum Astrology: As Below, So Above
Can modern science help us practice our ancient craft? We astrologers work
with the interrelationship between time and space, between where a planet
is located and when something will happen. Einstein demonstrated that time
is gravitationally warped space. Heisenberg grappled with the uncertainty
introduced by subatomic particle/wave duality. Explore the paradoxes of quantum
thinking as we relate the microcosm to the macrocosm and evaluate the duality
of planets-as-particles (very big ones) and planets-as-waves. Using this
paradigm, we'll take a fresh look at the purpose of prediction, the issue
of fate versus free will, and how our assumptions affect our readings. |

ART, CULTURE AND PLANETARY ARCHETYPES
As Jung recognized, astrology provides profound insight into the deep patterns
of human experience and of our cultural history, but such insight depends on
a capacity for rich archetypal perception, something that involves not only thinking
but the emotions, the imagination, the aesthetic intuition, the body, the whole
being. Because music and the arts engage all these dimensions, this workshop
will use representative works of music and the other arts with the powerful lens
of archetypal astrology to explore and illuminate the deeper character of major
cultural figures and historical eras.
The workshop’s aim is to provide information that those new to astrology
can immediately integrate into their lives, and that advanced students can use
to deepen their grasp of the range and subtlety of archetypal astrological analysis.
Above all, our time together will be devoted to getting to know more profoundly
the planetary gods. Our focus will be on increasing our direct understanding
and experience—intellectual, imaginative, aesthetic, emotional, and somatic—of
these archetypal powers of the world soul, the anima mundi.

It is not enough to tell clients that they can
overcome difficult combinations by free will. we need to provide
strategies and concrete
behavioral suggestions as to what to do. Each planet and combination
has modes of living In
which the energies of the planets can be made to work positively.
Often the problem is that the

CREATING THE PAST LIFE STORY
Counseling
astrologers all seek the same
Holy Grail: the metaphor that triggers understanding,
release, and
healing in the client. In Evolutionary Astrology, we
have a particular challenge. We must find a past-life story that
resonates as truth in a
person’s soul even though the actual facts cannot
be verified because
they are long lost in the mists of forgetfulness. Furthermore,
we
understand that there is no way we can honestly look
at a chart and say,“ Your name was Peggy and
that you were a pizza waitress in Philadelphia
in 1954.” Like any good novelist, we must tell the truth through made-up
facts. How can we do it? How can we make the chart-behind-the-chart come
alive for the client? The needed skills here are far different than the
technical elements of interpretation. We go beyond the science of
astrology and enter the realm of art. We are creative within the strict
limits of verifiable technique. Join Steven for a deep look at how to
create a storyline that can change a person’s life in one powerful
moment of catharsis.

HORARY CONSULTATION
Horary astrology is one of the most useful methods of guidance
in times of crisis, and it has a rightful place in every astrologer’s
practice. As a technique, it has greater scope and flexibility
than most astrologers
realise, but it is also very easy to master once the core principles are
properly understood. This half-day workshop illustrates a systematic approach
to judgement, demonstrated through a number of interesting case-histories.
Ideal for all levels of students, if you are new to horary it will help you
to understand the techniques and leave you eager to explore them for yourself;

its emphasis on practical application and fluid interpretation within the

INTRODUCTION
TO FINANCIAL ASTROLOGY AND MARKET TIMING
This instructive workshop will demonstrate the art of market timing, combining
the study of market cycles with that of planetary cycles, to optimize awareness
of a potential turning point in various financial markets. Emphasis will
be upon the U.S. stock market and precious metals, with projections in each.
With this course, you will see how financial markets are not “random” as
many people think. They move in fairly well-defined rhythms, and if you know
where you are within that cycle, you will also know what investment or trading
strategy to employ, and when to anticipate changes of trend. Both long-term
investment and short-term trading strategies will be addressed within the
context of geocosmic and cycle studies.
